Springdales School started out as a nursery and kindergarten school in East Patel Nagar set up by Mrs. Rajni Kumar in 1955. Mrs. Rajni Kumar had studied at the London School of Economics where she had been drawn to the progressive education movement. The school was her way of putting the ideas into practice. She has been so successful that she was one of the 1000 women nominated for a collective Nobel Prize in 2005.

The Springdales Education Society was set up in 1956 and has run the school since then. The school was successful from the very beginning and spread out to Kirti Nagar in 1962, Pusa Road in 1968 and Dhaula Kuan in 1980. Today the school has full fledged branches in Dhaula Kuan, Pusa Road, Kirti Nagar and Jaipur.

Springdales school has first class facilities with spacious classrooms and playgrounds; an air-conditioned auditorium capable of seating 750 people; art studios; dance and music center; mathematics, science, psychology and geography laboratories; a computer lab and resource center with networking and an LCD projector; well stocked library with an internet connection and a Teachers Learning Center with networked computers and a plasma screen. The school has a foreign language department with electronic facilities for teaching French, German, Russian and Spanish.

On the sports front the school has facilities for basketball, football, athletics, table tennis, swimming, cricket, skating, gymnastics, karate and Tae Kwon Do. The school also organizes regular mountaineering expeditions.

Admissions in 2023- 2024 were to the Pre- School class. The minimum age for eligibility was 3 years as on 31/03/2023. The total number of seats available was 136 with the breakup being as follows- General Category- 68 seats, EWS- 34 seats, Staff quota- 7 seats and Management quota- 27 seats.

The school uses a point-based system for admissions. The criteria and their weightages are as below

Neighborhood	39 points. Students residing in specified nearby areas get 39 points while those who live in other area get 29 points.
Sibling	35 points. Applicants are given 35 points if a real brother or sister is already studying in the school.
Alumni	26 points. Wards of alumni get upto 26 points depending on the duration the parents studied in the school and for how long the parent has been a member of the Old Springdalians Associations.
Total	100 points.

The school requires that applicants produce the following documents.

Birth Certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation
Proof of residential address (Passport/ Voter I- Card/ Ration Card/ Domicile Certificate/ Electricity Bill/ Water Bill/ Telephone Bill/ Aadhar Card).
For sibling cases- copy of fee bill/ report card of sibling
For alumni- copy of character certificate issued by school at time of leaving school/ OSA membership card

The cutoff for admission was 64 points. Candidates with scores higher than 64 were admitted directly while candidates with 64 points were selected by a draw of lots.

The top scoring students at Dhaula Kuan in each category in 2013- 2014 were as follows- Science (Medical)- 96.8%; Science (Non- medical)- 98.6%; Commerce- 97.2%; Humanities- 96.8%. 19 of the 187 students who appeared scored more than 95% in the aggregate, another 39 students scored between 90% and 94% in the aggregate.
