The Air Force School

The Air Force School was established in 1955 to educate the wards of Air Force personnel. The school initially functioned out of temporary wartime hutments at the Willingdon Camp on Club Road before shifting to its current location in Subroto Park in 1967. The school now occupies a sprawling campus and also admits the wards of civilians. It is one of the few schools in Delhi that are ISO 9001: 2000 certified.

The Air Force School is spread over a lush 16-acre campus that is lined with trees. The junior and senior schools are housed in separate buildings that are separated by large hockey grounds. All classrooms are equipped with electronics smartboards.

The school has well equipped laboratories for physics/ chemistry/ mathematics/ biology/ computer science/ aero- modeling and home science. The other facilities available include an audio- visual room, sculpture room, art rooms and dance studios. The school library has more than 20,000 books. There is a boys hostel with a capacity of 72 students.

The admissions made in 2023-2024 were to the Upper KG(UKG) i.e. Pre-Primary Class. The minimum age was four years as on 31^st March 2023.

The school uses a point-based system for admissions. The criteria and their weightages are as below

Neighborhood	30 points. Students residing within 5 km get 30 points, those residing between 5 and 10 km get 25 points and those residing between 10 and 15 km get 20 points.
Sibling	20 points. Applicants are given 20 points if a real brother or sister is already studying in the school.
Alumni	10 points. Wards of alumni get 10 points.
Single Parent	05 points. Wards of widow/ widower/ divorced/ unmarried parents are given 05 points.
Single Girl Child	05 points. Female candidates who are only children are awarded 05 points.
School Specific Parameters	30 points. These points are awarded to wards of ex or deceased servicemen/ MES personnel etc. depending on category
Total	100 points.

The school requires that successful applicants produce the following documents.

Address Proof	Proof of property ownership, MTNL landline bill, Voter Card, Water/ Electricity Bill, Aadhar card.
Date of Birth and Girl Child Proof	Birth Certificate.
Sibling Proof	School identity card and fee receipt.
Alumni Proof	Mark sheet from CBSE etc. with name of school.
Single Parent	Divorce papers from court/ Death certificate of parent/ Adoption deed.
School Specific Parameters	Discharge papers, appointment letters, pay slip etc. depending on the parameter.

The School published the scores of all 290 applicants. The cutoff for admission in 2023-2024 was at 30 points.

The top scoring candidates in 2022-2023 in each category were as follows- Commerce- 97.4%; Humanities- 97.6%; Science- 96.6%.
